Every day, 400 meals are served to students on the inpatient units, in the onsite schools, residential programs, and day cares.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served to patients every day of the year, and as part of the Hospital’s Healthy Eating Initiative, the menus serving each of these programs have been redesigned to include more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and additional vegetarian options. All meals will continue to be trans-fat free, with minimal additives, preservatives, sugars, and colors.
Children learn food preferences from those who serve them. A child may need to try a new food 10 times before deciding whether he or she likes it, so by making healthy options more readily available, we can influence what children will choose.
The Café at Franciscan features many options, including pizza, wraps, deli and grill selection, a salad bar, and more. We also proudly brew New England Coffee and offer a Coffee Club program. We accept all major credit cards.
Our cafeteria is open to families, visitors and staff each weekday, from 7:00am to 10:15am, and 11:00am to 1:30pm. Weekly menus are posted throughout the building, and available on the café’s website. Coffee and vending machines are also available near the registration desks on the first floor.
In our reception areas, you’ll now find copies of Chop Chop Magazine, a locally grown publication that educates kids on nutrition and healthy cooking, empowering them to actively participate as health partners with their families, and develop better, more nutritious eating habits.
